Winter Protection for Bananas
Wednesday, 15 November 2017

The bananas have been superb this year, easily the most luxuriant
ever, thriving with summer's heat and rain. But winter is coming.

Heavy rain and strong wind at the end of October.
Shredded leaves and broken stalks on October 31st.

So I cut them back, stuffed tubs with fallen leaves, and after
ringing them with mothballs to deter voles, covered them over.

Here it is two weeks later. The winter covers are again installed
and I'm raking leaves to stuff beneath them as best I can. Still need
to put up fencing and line with plastic. After all, winter will come.
